The old Avondale Library, a Carnegie Foundation Building.  This is a favorite postcard of  mine because it was my first library.  My memory says it smelled much more like a library than modern buildings. It was demolished in 60-61 to make way for the new Avondale Library.

It was built in 1909 and in 1913 became a branch library of Birmingham. This building was in Avondale Park, facing 5th Avenue between  41st and 42nd Streets.  This card was published by the Post Card Exchange.
