Have you wondered where Lakeshore Drive in Homewood got its name ? A dam on Shades Creek near Lakeshore Drive and Columbiana Road created Edgewood Lake.  The map section shows the present day locations of Samford University and Homewood Highwood High School Green Springs Highway intersects above the "W" in Edgewood.  The Edgewood Streetcar Line terminated near the intersection.
