Post card views of large hotels can be
uninspired. Typically, they are vertical views of tall buildings.
This Redmont Hotel card from the 40's uses color, insets of the interior,
and vertical titles to create a very nice postcard. The
first card is a linen texture printed by Curteich. The
middle card was postmarked 1931 and was printed by E.C. Kropp. It
advertises "circulating ice water". The last card appears to be late
30's early 40's and published by the Redmont.
The Redmont is the last of the old major Birmingham hotels to remain in business as a hotel. A major renovation was completed in 2000. |
