Post card views
of large hotels are generally uninspired. Typically, they are vertical
views of tall buildings. That spiffy Dodge Coronet really
dresses up the view of the Molton, corner of 5th and 20th Streets.
Notice the Eastern Airlines downtown ticket office on the corner. The
Molton opened in 1913 and was demolished in 1979. Card printed
by Hannan Color Productions. Linen texture card at bottom, circa 1940's, printed by MWM. Advertised the best ventilated rooms in the south. Molton was replaced by Compass Bank Offices, also housing regional Chamber of Commerce. March 2005 photo by Warren Reed |
