At left is a circa 1940 card of the Hotel Dixie-Carlton printed by Beals Litho Tone, Des Moines, Iowa. Also, a card advertising the four hotels of the Albert Noe chain, "Southern Hotels of dinstinction" Printed by Curteich, 1944.

If it looks familiar, you will recognize it as the YWCA. The building was originally constructed in 1925 as the Birmingham Men's Athletic Club. The YWCA purchased it in 1948. The YWCA, committed to remaining downtown, finished a major renovation in 1999.
