1962 post cards advertising X-CEL Super Stores, Inc 400 Second Avenue North.  Both cards published by Scenic South Card, Bessemer, AL

Caption of the exterior view reads, in part:
"Organized 1962 by Rev. Joel West Marshall, consisting o fmore than 2000 stockholders. Mr. George A Boyd is president. Plans are being made to open store #2 in Bessemer, Alabama and other cities."

My guess is that the views were taken during the store's grand opening.

The top right photo shows the building as it was February, 2005, occupied by the Pyramid Entertainment Center.
